How joining worked

Before server hubs existed, joining MCSG meant this page. Hundreds of numbered servers, each with its own address — you found a green lobby, copied its address like us143.mcsg.in, pasted it into your Minecraft server list, and hit Join before everyone else doing exactly the same thing. Fast fingers got a pedestal. Slow ones got "server is full."

The list starts exactly as preserved on October 29, 2014 — 425 servers, 2,262 tributes online — and then keeps playing out on its own. Every visit runs a little differently.
